Holidays?

Holidays?  Not for some parents as they were dragged out early for the keen duathletes on (daylight saving) Sunday morning. It was a smaller than usual field who tackled the 1k run/2k bike/1k run course but the regular top athletes were all there.

It was Room 6 children once again filling the top spots in the boys section, with Wesley 2nd, Will 3rd, Noah 4th, George 5th and Oscar 7th.

Only Frances represented the girls from Room 6 but she did it in style, improving by almost a minute to take out the win!

While the top 3 boys achieved times close to their last performances, George is closing the gap by taking almost a minute off his previous and Oscar is making good progress by shaving almost 30 seconds off his p.b.

Noah - sucking in air?
Oscar - giving it all!

Frances dominated on the bike and held on through the run to win by 6 seconds.

Different view - different yawn!
Congratulations all!

LTTC - Cycle Group

Cycling

Wesley, Will, Noah and George are training for The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge which takes place on the November the 24th.They are competing as a team so have to train for 40 km of very steep terrain around the Lake to complete the 160km journey.

On Sunday Wesley, Will, Noah and George went for their first long training ride of the season. We started at Wesley’s house and went anti clockwise around the Tuki Tuki loop. We all did 32km which was a great start.

Mr Barclay led the group nearly the whole time. It took us 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the loop. We rode at an average speed of 25km per hour.

Wesley said the part he enjoyed the most was climbing the hills, while Will prefered flying down the hills.

VLK#5

                                             VLK

It’s a another day of the Friendly Dental VLK (very low key)Duathlons on a perfect Havelock North Spring morning.

The distances were 2km run, 11km bike and a 2km run. Frances and Mr Barclay did the last of the series with Mr Barclay finishing 1st and Frances finishing 4th in their age groups.

Frances took 9mins off her first VLK time which is a fantastic improvement! Mr Barclay’s time was 37.39secs and Frances’s time was 49.22secs.

It was also great to see ex-pupils - The Gray boys - performing so well in the, very competitive, Junior boys division.

Impasto with acrylic

This is Aimee's daffodil painting. It was the best in the class. We had to sketch it first then do a good copy. After we had done copying the daffodil we painted it what ever colours we wanted to. We could mix colours to make a new colour or just use normal colours.
