Orienteering Championships – Individual
Haumoana children top the podium again and Room 6 mixes it with the seniors
No 1 Tessa - Rm 6 |
Different faces, same places! For the 3rd year in succession
Haumoana boys finished first (Sam W) and second (Will) in the
HB Individual Orienteering Championships.
Not to be outdone, this year the girls matched the boy’s performance
with Tessa B taking out top spot and Siena finishing second (Siena
has been a podium finisher forthe last 3 years) .
While Haumoana dominated in the number of entrants as well
as the top results, it was pleasing to see the consistently improving performances
of all children who participated, particularly Year 5 students - George, Aidan, James and Oscar - who will be real contenders next year.No 2 Will - Rm 6 |
It is
not an easy task searching unknown countryside for controls, armed only with a
map and your wits, especially when you are between 8 and 10 years old!
It was a wonderful display of risk taking,
persistence and fitness.
